Two years into a grassroots campaign built upon core shops
and street-level support, ASICS Skateboarding’s first ever press release is proud to introduce the
LEGGEREZZA FB, a brand-new model styled by longtime pro-skater and cultural icon, Gino Iannucci.
The shoe draws from ASICS’ deep archives to slot into a diverse skate line that proudly foregrounds
the Japanese brand’s athletic lineage. The stitched toebox and upper find inspiration from a vintage
ASICS soccer cleat, the
INJECTOR Arezzo I (1989), while the semi-translucent sole updates the
brand’s long history of courtshoes.
Gino’s first reaction to the
LEGGEREZZA FB said it all — “Yes. That’s a perfect looking shoe.”
And who better to design two launch colorways than the salt-and-pepper stallion from Long Island,
a skater whose push alone can stop hearts and scrolling thumbs alike? An ambassador for ASICS
Skateboarding since its conception, Gino stands as a consummate reminder that it’s never really
about what you do, but how.
One is a crisp, summertime white with bold pops of pure gold striping. The other is a timeless navy
blue and white. On both, you’ll find durable leather uppers double stitched throughout, a padded
tongue, inner sockliner, and breathable mesh in the quarters and collar.
According to Gino, “They feel perfect, snug and light and with enough foot protection without
sacrificing board feel.”
The first drop of the
LEGGEREZZA FB also pays homage to Gino’s longtime love for another sport:
ice hockey. Its waxed laces and side panels take cues from hockey skate materials, and a custom
collector’s shoe box, inspired by the lines of vintage skates, features a hand-sketched silhouette of
Gino’s unmistakable push.
In an era of overly cautious skate models, it’s one more distinctive offering from a company that
trusts our athletic history as much as we trust our skaters.
